So what did you think of the GIS exercise? What was most interesting? What surprised you? Did the coastal flooding meet or exceed your expectations? What questions do you have?
I think the GIS program is a really good way for us to take the data that we receive and to really put it into a visual format. I like to see data, but I really think it helps to see patterns and trends when we're able to look at a map visually. The program is nice and easy to use and it has some nice features to help us do the work we need to do. Personally, I was quite surprised at just how much glboal warming would rise ocean levels and take away some of the land we have now. How long would something like this take to happen and how prepared are the projected lands ready for this? At 50 meters I'm thinking that Florida would need to have some kind of plan in place. It's scary to think about, but it was very interesting to see on a map just what areas of the world would be affected. In fact, I would say that it is more helpful to see it on the map then to read about it.
