Globalization in Google Earth
When we were at the Spatial Analysis Center on Friday for College Geo, the GIS program reminded me of Google Earth, which is GIS similar program that is like Arc View. The program is for the public and allows you to freely move through the world at a bird's eye view using satellite technology. They also have a similar table of contents on the side like we see in Arc View. The program is a free download for anyone who would like to give it a whirl.I think this program is a great example of globalization through technology. We now have the technology developed where we can see any part of the world, instantly, through our home computers.

Google Earth is a really cool site. There are a lot of pieces of open source software now that will let you link different bits of data to a google earth map. For example you can load vacation pics to another site called Flikr and then geocode the info to make a vacation map with dots at the location the pics were taken.
