Hazardous Waste Plant Explodes!!!!

Plumes of chemicals were sent into the air after a hazardous waste plant exploded in North Carolina. Chemicals such as chlorine were shot hundreds of feet into the air causing official to evacuate and estimated 17 thousand people.

Apex, North Carolina is just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. Apex is the home to Environmental Quality Co. Hazardous waste business which erupted Thursday night. After the EQ complex exploded the fire jumped to a near by industrial building causing petroleum tanks to erupt. During the entire disaster clouds of chlorine, which is soluble in water, there for will be deplete naturally and safely by earth, roses hundreds of feet into the air. Officials do not know the cause of the explosion. The state Department of Environment and Natural Resources did however warned the EQ complex about their hazardous possibility of explosion and fined them $32,000 dollars.

University professor stated that had the wind been blowing the wrong way more people would have needed to be evacuated and more people would be in the hospital. Currently 25 people are in the hospital with respiratory problems from the chemicals and pollutions.


Question~ Does any one know what the evacuation plan for St. Cloud is if there were to be a meltdown at the Monticello Nuclear Plant? Sartell/St. Cloud is in the meltdown affected radius!
