Just To Let You All Know

Check it out ya'll! We had the discussion in class today about the G8 Summit. Our class couldn't remember all of the countries that were involved, so in no order of importance, here they are!
1. Canada
2. France
3. Italy
4. Germany
5. Japan
6. Russia
7. United Kingdom
8. United States
G8 stands simply for "Group of 8." The G8 started in 1973 as a result of an oil crisis and subsequent recession. Ever since, the leaders of these eight industrialized nations have met annually to discuss world issues such as poverty, disease, war and terrorism, economics and trade. As most remember, during the most recent G8 Summit in Scotland, the creator of Live Aid and Band Aid, Bob Geldof, organized "Live 8." These series of concerts held in each of the G8 countries were a massive effort to raise awareness of the extreme poverty crisis in Africa, and to pressure the leaders to garner support and financial aid to the struggling nations.
