President Bush signs controversial law

A few weeks ago someone wrote about a new contraversial plan that would put a 700 mile fence along the United States Mexico border. Well this post is updating that plan. President Bush recently signed this plan into law this week. This new barrier will also be equipped with high tech survillance equipment.

Personally to me I think that creating a 700 mile fence is a temporary solution to long time problem. Sure it will stop illegal immigration in that area, but illegal immigrants will come into the United States from somewhere else. Illegal immigrants have been coming into the United States for a long time, and I see no reason why a fence would stop that in the long run. The fence has also badly strained relations with Mexico. Mexican president Vincente Fox called the Fence shameful and compared it to the Berlin Wall. The United States has enough countries now that don't like us and we do not need another. The bottom line is that yes illegal immigration is a problem in the United States right now. Something also has to be done to stop illegal immigration, but let me ask you this, do you really think that a 700 mile fence is really going to improve the amount of illegal immigrants in the United States for a long period of time?
