Car bomb misses the Somailian President.
I was reading the Saint Cloud Times and I found this article to be interesting. "Mogadishu, Somalia-The transitional president of Somalia narrowly escaped assassination Monday when a car bomb exploded as he left a converted grain silo that serves as the nation's makeshit parliment. President Abdullahi Yusuf was unharmed. But eight others, including his brother, were killed by the blast in Baidoa, the nation's provisional capital. Despite years of instability and violence, car bomb have been rare in Somalia, leading local officials immediately to blame foriegn militants. One goverment minister described the bombing as an 'al-Qaida-type attempt.' No group immediately claimed responsibility. The blast comes at a particularly sensitive time for the goverment. Yusuf's administration is attempting to negotiate a power sharing agreement with the Islamic Courts Union, which seized control of Mogadishu early this year. Some officials accused the union of participating in the attack." The article was from the Saint Cloud Times. Does anyone see any fall out from the attack on the president? If the union was participating in the attack, what do you see happening to the Somalian goverment?
