Lock-down at a St. Cloud School

Early this afternoon at St. Cloud's Tech High School a lockdown was issued. The lockdown went into effect after a 911 call was place from a cell phone from within the school. Police report that the female who placed the call claimed there was a male in the school with a gun. Police surrounded the school with in minutes and search until nearly 2:50 pm searching for a gun and the supposed male owner of the weapon. Police searched lockers and interviewed students not finding anything. The police did take the owner of the cell phone, on which the call was placed, into custody even though the police don't know who placed the call of the three female students. Charges are pending on the prank caller and are expected to be to the fullest extent.

While reading this article and hearing about this situation and event that occurred on Tuesday September 19th, 2006, I feel that the situation has gotten out of hand and it is about time that someone does something about it. I think that this should maybe still be thought over because you never know the reasoning behind a prank like this.
Many people keep saying the three girls didn't know to the full extent of the severity of their actions. I think that three high school girls should and do know the hurt that there actions caused many people. Maybe this is a call out for something, maybe they were seeing how and what would happened if someone actually brought a gun, or maybe they really didn't know.
I know if I were at tech I would still not feel totally content with attending school and if it were up to me I would check into that more because attending a school and having an insecure feeling about it is not right. I think the situation that occurred on Tuesday was out of hand and was no excuse for not knowing.
