Ford downsizing due to globalization

Recently the American company Ford Motor Co announced plans to close two more of its plants in the next two years. They will be cutting one third of all their paying jobs. This rapid downsizing is in part a result of Ford losing much of its buyer market to foriegn made cars such as Toyota. A very local example of this is the closure of the Ford plant in St. Paul where 1,800 jobs will be lost. Meanwhile Japanese company Toyota is growing rapidly in the United States. July was the first month ever in which Toyota sold more vehicles than Ford. Americans are choosing to purchase foriegn made vehicles rather than promoting our own economy. Globlization isn't only affecting small distant villages, it is affecting everyone. I believe it is are job to recognize its harmful affects and react. Perhaps by buying a Ford over a Toyota.
